William C. Ransom, 80, a longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, near his home in Florida.
Born February 4, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late William and Marion Hall Ransom and grandson of the late Nellie and Ellwood Hall.
A 1961 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Bill earned his degree from King's College. He was a third-generation licensed electrician for many years before retiring.
Bill was a former Parish of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception member, where he was named 1981 Man of the Year by its Holy Name Society.
His son Sean Ransom and daughter-in-law Eileen Burke preceded him in death.
His children Donna Ann Redenski and her husband Chris of Nanticoke, Kathleen Ransom Burke of Shenandoah, Kevin and his wife Jean Ransom of Wilkes-Barre, William and his wife Deanna Ransom of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Christopher Ransom of Hanover Township; grandchildren, Kelly, Elizabeth, Matthew, Joshua, Kevin, Christian, Billy, Alex, Daniel, Tiffany, Chris and Carissa; great-grandchildren Hayden, Kinzley, Brody, Phoenix, Presley, Amelia, and Nathan; his best sister Marilyn Sabulski of Sweet Valley; and other family and friends will miss him very much.
Celebration of Bill's Life begins Thursday, October 3, 2024, with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Friday, October 4, 2024, with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
