William A. Pfeiffer, 92, of Kingston, PA, died peacefully in his home in the early morning of July 31, surrounded by his family.

Born on May 26, 1934 in Scranton, PA, Bill was the son of the late William A. Pfeiffer and Frances Pfeiffer (née Bellersheim). He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1952 and attended the University of Scranton.

Bill’s unwavering work ethic took root at the age of eight, when he labored alongside migrant workers on a farm, picking vegetables. By fourteen, he had begun his career with Acme Markets, delivering boxed groceries by wagon—a path that would eventually lead him to serve as a corporate Vice President overseeing the Northeast Regional Division. In the intervening years, he also served with distinction as a Military Police officer in the United States Army, stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, California.

He was most passionate about his love for his family. He also had an abiding passion for sports— particularly the New York Yankees— and for the quiet challenge of Sudoku.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, William T. Pfeiffer and Gail Pfeiffer (née Hossler), and his sister, Dorothy Reeves.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara “Bonnie” Pfeiffer (née Reed), of Kingston. His children— son, James and wife, Brigid (Dallas, PA). Daughter, Nora Hottenstein and husband, William (Kingston, PA). Son, Mark and wife, Janice, (Philadelphia, PA). Daughter, Mollie Napolitano and husband, Bryan (Center Valley, PA).

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren— Matthew, Liam, John, Brian, Celia, Booey, Emma, George, Sam, Jake, Charlie, Toby, and William, and 4 great-grandchildren— Riley, Declan, River, and Pearl.

Services will be held at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 339 North Maple Avenue in Kingston. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, visitation begins at 9 AM, and a Funeral Mass begins at 10 AM.
