William E. Lynch, 76, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Born July 26, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Lynch.
Bill was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School where he lettered in wrestling, track and football and was a starting member of the 1955 conference championship football team. He also graduated from U.S. Army Adjutant General Clerical School while a member of the National Guard from 1960 to 1966.
He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Fire Department retiring in 1980.
Bill was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish.
A brother, Joseph preceded him in death.
Bill devoted his life to his wife and sons, and loved being with his family.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and constant companion, Shirley; sons, William, Jr. of Kingston and John of Wilkes-Barre; twin sister, Nancy and sister, Mary of Wilkes-Barre; brothers, James and his wife Ada of Fleetwood and John of Wilkes-Barre; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, the Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held privately by his family.
