Rita Shea Thomas, 87, a longtime resident of Kingston, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Born April 10, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Leo and Mary Farrell Shea.

Rita was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and retired after many years as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

Rita was devoted to God, to her family, and to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Her husband, Daniel E. Thomas, died on August 17, 2015. Her son, Timothy, daughter, Rosemary, sisters Joan Cigarski and Shirley Krause, and a brother, James Shea, also preceded her in death.

Her son Daniel E. Thomas, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Dallas; grandchildren Courtney Thomas and Ryan and his wife Leah Thomas; sisters Dorothy Peters, Anita Petroski, Donna Orson, and Bernadette Romiski; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends will miss her very much.

Rita's family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from the staff of Highland Manor.

Celebration of Rita's Life takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Frances Cabrini, 585 Mount Olivet Road in Wyoming. Graveside services will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
