Rita T. Kilgallon

Rita T. Kilgallon, 90, formerly of Wilkes-Barre died December 16th following an illness.

Born March 10, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa Marley O'Rourke.

Rita was a 1942 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School.

Rita dedicated most of her life to caring for her family. She was a nursing assistant at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital during the 1970s.

Rita was a former member of the Church of Saint Patrick where she was very active with its groups and societies.

Her husband, Charles A. Kilgallon died August 8, 1988. Brothers, Joseph and Thomas O'Rourke also preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Charles T. Kilgallon of Wilkes-Barre, Marita and her husband Austin Murphy of West Pittston, Anthony and his wife Diane Kilgallon of Virginia and Irene Franco of West Pittston; grandchildren, Austin C. and his wife Donna Murphy, Kelly and her husband Jim Cunningham, Mark and his wife Linda Murphy, Lori Allen, Anthony and his wife Nancy Kilgallon, Heidi and Rebecca Franco; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
