Raymond K. Jones, 82, of Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at Hospice Community Care.
Born January 3, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Raymond K. and Isabelle Adams Jones.
Ray attended Meyers High School.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict he proudly served our country from 1952 to 1956.
Ray was employed by Frank Martz Coach Company, retiring in 1992, and later worked for White Transit until 2010.
He was a member of City Light Church in Wilkes-Barre, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1425 in Plymouth and the Notre Dame Club of Hanover Township.
A brother, John Jones and sisters, Marjorie Davis, Ann Heig and Marylou Muth preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Shirley Morgan; daughters, Colleen Jones of Wilkes-Barre and Darla and her husband Daniel Carey of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Brian and his wife Stephanie of New York, Scott Carey and his fiancé, Nancy and her son, Xane of Tatamy, Christopher Carey of Philadelphia and Kathleen Carey of Wilkes-Barre; a great-granddaughter, McKenna Carey for whom he was a proud great-pop-pop; a brother, Walter ‘Butch’ Jones and sister, Ruth Jones of New Jersey; nieces, nephews, other family and friends, including a special little guy named Hayden who referred to him as his pop-pop.
Celebration of Ray’s Life will be led by Pastor Jacob Johnson on Wednesday at 11 AM at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
