Nelson S. Reichard, 77, of Ashley died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born June 6, 1932 in Northumberland he was a son of the late Walter and Wilmina Sheetz Reichard.

A graduate of Northumberland High School, Nelson enjoyed a successful career as a truck driver before retiring.

His son, James, daughter Susan Etzle, step-son, Jack Murphy, grandson, Marty Casselberry, brothers, Irving, Walter and Cliff, and sisters, Dorothy, Florence and Peg preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Marie LaMas; children, Lois and her husband Jim Clark of Nanticoke and David Reichard of Dallas; step-children, Carol Wallace, Raymond and Jim Murphy of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Kyle Etzle, Brandon Jackson, Naomi and Zach Wallace, Derek and Ian Murphy, Tiffany, Angela and Jim Murphy, and Emily Reichard; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Ken, Raymond and Maurice Reichard; and sisters, Betty Walters and Bernice Kessler

Celebration of Nelson’s Life will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Church of Saint Boniface. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
