Kevin R. Foley

December 3, 1959 — May 19, 2026

Lake Nuangola, Pennsylvania

Kevin Raymond Foley, 66, passed away in the presence of his loving family at his home at Lake Nuangola on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The son of Dr. T. Raymond and Jean Cavanaugh Foley, Kevin was born on December 3, 1959, in Wilkes-Barre. He graduated from Bishop Hoban High School in 1977 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from King’s College in 1981.

After graduation, he joined KPMG’s New Jersey practice before returning to Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1985. Mr. Foley became a partner with Kronick Kalada Berdy & Co., a successor firm to a national accounting firm, and built a distinguished career spanning more than forty years.

Mr. Foley was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. Throughout his career, he held numerous leadership roles within the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), including service on its Executive Council and Ethics Committee, and as past president of the PICPA Northeastern Chapter.

In recognition of his professional expertise and leadership, Mr. Foley was appointed by former Governor Thomas Ridge to serve on the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy and was subsequently reappointed by former Governor Edward Rendell. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Foley served as chair and board member of numerous civic and community organizations.

Kevin and his wife, Alice, enjoyed gardening and traveling, and created their home at Lake Nuangola as a gathering place for friends and family. Kevin’s love for Mountain Top and the Lake Life was exemplified in his commitment to the Parish of Saint Jude, the Mountain Top Historical Society, and the Nuangola Union Chapel, where he was a director and treasurer.

Kevin was the owner, host, and fun facilitator of Cavanaugh’s in Mountain Top. It was a place that remained close to his heart; a place where he may have perfected his Irish Goodbye.

A grandson, John Richards; brothers, Gerard and Brian Foley; and nephews Nestor Foley and Mark Kolanowski preceded him in death.

His loving wife, Alice Frank Foley; step-son, John Mooney; step-daughter, Kathleen and her husband Pete Richards, and their children, Eve and George; step-daughter, Christine Mooney and her daughter, Keirsi, with whom he had a special bond; brother, Dr. T. Raymond Foley, III and his wife Ann; brother James Foley; aunt Joanne Fennell; beloved nieces and nephews; other members of the Frank and Ell families; and many friends will miss him very much.

Celebrations of Kevin’s Life takes place on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Church of Saint Jude, South Mountain Boulevard at Church Road in Mountain Top. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM, and a Funeral Mass begins at 11 AM.
