Joyce Polocko Jacobson died Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948 in Kingston, she was the daughter of Matthew F. and Grace Parsons Polocko.
Joyce graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1966, and attended the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, earning her Licensed Practical Nursing certification in 1967. Her greatest educational accomplishment was graduating from King's College Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science and her Physician's Assistant Certification in 1983; her brother John would have been over the moon with pride.
In addition to her career in medicine, Joyce advocated for mental health awareness, working with Luzerne Country MH/MR program, Help Line, Step by Step and VISION.
Joyce's brother John Mark preceded her in death.
Her daughters, Christine Betz (Joseph) of Bear Creek, Jennifer Jacobson (Kevin) of Kingston, and Pamela Dennis of Kingston; sister Carol Ann (Polocko) Montgomery of Burlington Township, NJ; brother Christopher Polocko of Kingston; a niece, nephews and great-nephews will miss her very much.
Joyce's family is grateful to the staff of The Gardens of Wyoming Valley for their years of wonderful care, to the team of Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit for their incomparable care and compassion, and to Petals For Goodness Sake for their generosity.
Celebration of Joyce's Life begins Tuesday, November 8, 2022, with visitation from 2 to 6 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:15 AM in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola in Kingston.
