Joseph Sakelaridos, Joe Sak, 84, of Sugar Notch and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on February 15, 2026.
Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Joe was a son of the late Michael and Anna Casper Sakelaridos.
A lifelong member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Joe’s faith and heritage were central to who he was. He was a proud graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes University, and the University of Scranton. His early career as a CPA took him to several respected organizations, including IBM, General Dynamics, and the U.S. Government, where he built a reputation for diligence, integrity, and sharp financial insight.
After returning to the Wilkes-Barre area, Joe embraced his entrepreneurial spirit. He became active in real estate investment and later developed a thriving memorabilia business. In the 1980s, he was well known for organizing successful sports memorabilia shows in both Wilkes-Barre and Scranton—events that brought together collectors, fans, and friends from across the region.
His six siblings, Marie Politis, James Saks, Bess Lion, Sophie Pappas, Irene Rowe, and Michael Sakelarides, whom he cherished deeply, preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his son, Joe; his grandsons, Eric and his wife Erin, and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Reese and Cade; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection and gratitude.
Joe will be remembered for his devotion to family, his pride in his community, and his lifelong enthusiasm for sports, history, and connection.
