Joseph F. Morrison Jr., M.D.

September 6, 1946 — May 20, 2022

Joseph Francis Morrison Jr., beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the age of 75.

Joe was born on September 6, 1946 in Wilkes-Barre to Joseph and Frances Morrison.

After obtaining his B.S. at King's College, he voluntarily joined the Navy during the Vietnam War, becoming an officer on the USS Harold J. Ellsion. After his service, he began his career in medicine, receiving his doctorate at Temple Medicine and completing his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Joe proceeded to join his father in practicing Ophthalmology in Wilkes-Barre, where he continued to serve his community until his retirement.

Joe enjoyed socializing, traveling, and golf, but his central passion in life was his family and spending time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Alina Junquera Morrison; his three children, Joseph Morrison, North Carolina, Brendan Morrison, New York City, and Erin Morrison-Minehart and her husband, Jeff, Rye, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Nolan and Maisie Minehart; and sisters, Mary Susan Morrison and Ann Bankoff.

His death has only highlighted his good character and inspired his loved ones to live a life of substance and joy. His honesty, generosity, and integrity were a few among many noble qualities he shared with all of us. He will be loved and missed by many, including family, friends, patients, and community members.

Please join us in honoring his life on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 2 to 5 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 S Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
