Joan J. Fladd, 90, formerly of Riverside Drive in Wilkes-Barre died Monday at Mountain Top Senior Care.
Born January 5, 1925 in Swoyersville she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Hornick Forgash.
Joan earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Misericordia University and Master of Science degree from Bucknell University.
Mrs. Fladd started teaching chemistry at Forty Fort High School in 1963 and retired from the Wyoming Valley West School District in 1989.
Joan was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas.
Her husband, Albert J.J. Fladd died February 12, 2007. A son, Albert J. and daughter-in-law, Ellen Bonner Fladd also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Helen and her husband Yale Chvotzkin of Mountain Top; grandchildren, Katherine Chvotzkin of Ephrata, Hilary Chvotzkin of Mountain Top, Alex Chvotzkin of Monroe, New Jersey and CPL Gabriel Chvotzkin, USMC, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; great-grandson, Jacob Belles; brother, John Forgash of Swoyersville; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held Friday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM
