Jeanne McLaughlin Durkin

Jeanne McLaughlin Durkin passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at her home in Dallas, Pennsylvania on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
She was born on October 12, 1940 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Robert J McLaughlin and Jean Gallagher McLaughlin. She was raised in Kingston and Bear Creek Village.
Jeanne was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School, Kingston. She attended Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia, and the New York School of Interior Design, New York City.
In 1958, Jeanne married her soulmate James J. Durkin, Jr. They were married for 52 years and were loving parents to their four children.
Jeanne was a woman of elegance, grace, laughter, and exquisite taste. Jeanne enjoyed interior design, antiquing, and gardening. She loved surrounding herself with her family and many special friends.
Jeanne served as past co-chair of the Women's Interest Committee of the Westmoreland Club, past President of the Junior League, was an avid member of Huntsville Golf Club, Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish, and the Palm Beach Polo Club in Wellington, Florida, where she and her husband enjoyed wintering.
Jeanne will be remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Deborah Durkin Graham and her husband Robert of Shavertown; son Robert McLaughlin Durkin, of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandson Robert J. Graham of Harveys Lake; granddaughter Jacqueline Jeanne Graham of Denver, Colorado; and sister Joan McLaughlin Smith of Reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, and father, daughter Laura Jeanne Durkin, son James J. Durkin, III, and brother Robert J. McLaughlin, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola in Kingston.
