Jason Mitchell Beatty

Jason Mitchell Beatty, 47, of Bear Creek Village, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, after a valiant fight against cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and his wife of more than 21 years, Kristen Miele-Beatty, who was his steadfast partner in life and his fiercest advocate throughout his illness.

In addition to his wife, Jason is survived by his parents, David and Love Beatty of Fern Ridge; brothers Steven (Mary) Beatty of Bear Creek Township and Timothy (Lisa) Beatty of Pottstown; sister-in-law Marisa Miele Jacobus of Easton; nephews Alex, Ronan, and Jasper; and nieces Amelia and Ellie. He was also a proud “cat dad” throughout his life and will be deeply missed by his beloved cats Bunny, Beaker, and Dolly. Jason is further survived by uncles John Meckes, Stephan Yoder, and Robert Beatty; aunts Sharon Karantinos, Faith Meckes, Hope Yoder, Susan Beatty, and Kathleen Beatty; and many cousins who all cherished him.

Jason graduated from Pocono Mountain High School (Class of 1996) and the Monroe County Vo-Tech School, where he earned a silver medal in the Auto Service Technology competition. His career began while in high school at Bertile Roos Racing School, where he discovered the art of pushing a car to its limits, safely, and fixing whatever broke in the process. He went on to graduate from Nashville Auto-Diesel College, earning the Craftsman Award.

Over the years, Jason worked for Schaffer and Strominger in Baltimore, Maryland, and Sun Buick in Moosic, PA, where he earned the designation of Master Mechanic from General Motors. For the past 21 years, he built a career and many lasting friendships at Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar, most recently serving as a Technical Communicator at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Branch. His colleagues knew him not just as a problem-solver, but as a teacher, loyal friend, and someone who could fix almost anything, except perhaps his own stubborn streak.

Jason will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and generous heart. A gentle giant with an enviable beard, he carried himself with warmth and humility. He had a lifelong love of cars, especially his beloved Mini Coopers and Crown Victorias, surpassed only by his devotion to his wife and their cats. He was a skilled gamer, a board game strategist, and an enthusiastic explorer of distant worlds through Doctor Who, Star Trek, and countless rpg video games. The sweetness of his smile, the depth of his knowledge, and his dry sense of humor, always delivered at just the right moment, will be missed more than words can say.

Jason’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the oncologists, palliative care providers, and the ICU and Henry Cancer Center nurses and staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their extraordinary kindness and compassion over these past eight months.

Celebration of Jason’s Life takes place on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Visitation begins at 1 PM and concludes with a prayer service at 3 PM.
