James J. Brislin, III, 73, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday morning, September 28, 2026, in the presence of his loving family.

Born April 27, 1953, in Wilkes-Barre, Jimmy was the son of the late James J. Brislin Jr. and Romayne Gilroy Brislin. He was a member of the last graduating class of the former St. Mary’s High School on South Washington Street. In 1973, he graduated from Vale Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in automotive technology.

Jimmy worked for several years in the automotive repair business before joining State Farm Insurance as an auto damage estimator. He later worked as a building maintenance technician at Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech, retiring in 2015.

Jimmy was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish at St. Patrick’s Church in Wilkes-Barre. A proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. John Neumann Division, he was honored as Hibernian of the Year in 2015. He also belonged to the Sons of the American Legion Post 815 in Wilkes-Barre Township and the Polish American Veterans in Hudson.

He enjoyed golfing and the friendships he formed through the PG&W Golf League, the Monday Over the Hill Gang League, and the Ocean City golf crew’s annual spring and fall trips.

Above all, family brought Jimmy his greatest joy and happiness. He truly cared about everyone, and his life was enriched by the close bonds he shared with family and friends.

In addition to his beloved parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas, and Bob and Mary Bambrick.

Jimmy is survived by his wife and best friend, Eileen Brislin, and their son, Jay; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Claire and Joe Yarrish; his brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Gail Brislin; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, who were also his best friends: Cathy and John Kratz, Molly and Dennis Bieryla, and Betty and Joe Keating.

Jimmy is also survived by his dearly loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, along with many cousins and cherished friends, including those from his golf leagues, the PAV, and the AOH.

Celebration of Jimmy’s Life begins Thursday, October 1, 2026, with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Friday, October 2, 2026, with gathering at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in the Church of Saint Leo, Manhattan Street in Ashley.
