Francis J. Prest Jr., 79, of Plains, was welcomed into heaven on the morning of December 24, 2022.
Frank was born on January 5, 1943 to Francis J. and Bessie (Bossert) Prest and was raised in Wilkes-Barre, where he attended Meyers High School.
Frank was employed at Blue Ribbon Bakery Before beginning his 32-year railroad career in 1974 with the Lehigh Valley Railroad, Conrail, and Norfolk Southern before retiring in 2006.
Frank's railroad career allowed him to travel to many different cities and states, where he developed long-lasting friendships with many people.
Frank had many life loves, including his family, riding his Harleys, trips in his motorhome, and, most of all, entertaining a crowd. Frank had a gift for making people smile, and he did so with his magnetic personality and his music. From his band "The Valley Drifters" to his years as "DJ Drifter", Frank's singing will be fondly remembered by many. Frank often used his talent for many charities through the years and was always willing to help those in need.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His children Francis "Butch" and his wife Stacie Prest of Sweet Valley, Kelly Prest of Inkerman, William and his wife Ashley Prest of Laflin, and Joseph Prest of Edwardsville; grandchildren Kathleen Prest, Jacob Prest, Kalista Armitage, Angela Grace Prest, and Grady William Prest; sister Lois Deleman of Nanticoke; other family and friends will miss him very much.
Celebration of Frank's Life begins Thursday, December 29, 2022, with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Friday, December 30, 2022, with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Maria Goretti in Laflin.
Donations to Allied Services Hospice Center Wilkes-Barre are preferred and will honor Frank's memory.
