Ethan "Poobie" Jung was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the shadow of Pikes Peak, weighing just 2 pounds, 12 ounces. From his very first breath, he embodied resilience, a spirit that carried him through a life of purpose, compassion, and courage.
His childhood was shaped by adventure and change, living in Colorado, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Germany, and South Dakota. In 2014, he stood as a Cub Scout when Sturgeon Bay received its Coast Guard City designation, one of many cherished moments.
From 12 through 18, Ethan dedicated himself to public service, training with the Sturgeon Bay Police Explorers and the Brown County Sheriff Explorers. As he searched for his place in law enforcement, he took on work in security, where his quiet acts of care made a real difference: dressing wounds, showing compassion to the homeless, or sharing a cigarette with someone down on their luck. He was admired for his quick humor, fierce empathy, and a drive that never wavered.
He is survived by his beloved cat, Lilith "Lily" Isabelle; mother, Amy Jung; father, Matthew Jung; sisters, Raven Dayton and Morgan Jung; brother, Connor Jung; and his cherished "little man," Samuel "Sammy" Ethan Cutbirth; grandfathers, Donald Peterson and W. Michael Jung; grandmother, Lynn Morrow; aunts, Jenilyn Mahon, Becky Dyer, and Lynette Huffman; and uncles, Justin Huffman and Pastor Ray Dyer.
Ethan now joins those who went before him: his grandmother, Bonnie A. Peterson; brother, Dante A. Seago; and uncles, Brian Rahmlow, Robert "Uncle" Kohl, and Duane "Shorty" Smith.
Ethan "Poobie" Jung was deeply loved, and he made the world better in ways that will not be forgotten.
