Edward J. Dopko, 73, of Wilkes-Barre died unexpectedly Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born January 27, 1940 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Edward and Adele Styklunas Dopko.
Ed's family relocated to Philadelphia where he graduated from Overbrook High School.
An Army veteran he proudly served our country for six years with more than two years of foreign service.
Ed worked for Interstate Dress Carriers for many years before accepting a position with the Wilkes-Barre Area School District from which he retired after seventeen years.
Ed was an enthusiastic fan of the Phillies and Dolphins and enjoyed camping, fishing and trips to the casino.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 401, the American Legion Post 395 and F.O.P. Lodge 36.
His first wife, Sandra Medvic Dopko died January 16, 1989. A step-son, Gary Rozelle also preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Ruth Ann Morgan Rozelle; children, Michelle and her husband Peter Zolkos of Boulder, Colorado and Michael and his wife Renee Dopko of Mountain Top; step-children, Donald Rozelle and his companion Tammylee Reed of Jenkins Township, Millie and her husband Randy Kasprzyk of Hunlock Creek, Edward and his wife Lisa Rozelle of Wilkes-Barre; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Dopko of Wilkes-Barre; other family and friends.
Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held Saturday with a Liturgy Outside Mass at 10 AM at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
