Diane Camille McCabe of Exeter passed away on April 8, 2026.
Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Joan Lipka.
Diane was a graduate of Northwest High School and the Wilkes-Barre Area CTC School of Nursing.
Diane was employed by Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre for many years before changing careers. After graduating from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Academy, she and her husband, Ed, established Four Star McCabe Realty, which they operated for thirty years.
Diane and Ed enjoyed playing golf in their spare time. They lived in South Carolina for five years with Charlie, Diane’s dog, whom she loved for seventeen years before he passed away three years ago. They traveled extensively, vacationing in Alaska, Ireland, Italy, South America, and many U.S. destinations, and taking numerous cruises.
Diane was a member of the Parish of Saint Monica in West Wyoming and its prayer group. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s organization of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Pittston.
Diane is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Ed; her seven children, daughters Kimberly Elko, Jessica Thomas, and Michelle Serafin; sons David Oplinger, Eric McCabe, Stephen McCabe, and Michael McCabe; sister Janet Weis; brother Dr. Stephen Lipka; sisters-in-law Wendy Lipka and Dorothy Engelman; brothers-in-law Joseph, Frank, William, and Teddy McCabe; many grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Diane’s family celebrates her life privately.
Donations to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, stjude.org , are preferred and will honor Diane’s memory.
