David G. Williams, Jr.

David G. Williams, Jr., 76, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024.

Born in Kingston on March 19, 1948 he was the son of the late David Glyn and Florence Parsons Williams.

Dave was a proud Communication Workers of America Local 13000 member, serving as a Job Steward, Branch Representative, and President of Unit 34 for ten years. He was also a member and trustee of the Wilkes-Barre Labor Council and retired from Verizon after thirty-seven years of service.

Dave was a regular blood and platelet donor for the American Red Cross for many years and supported their partnership with the Disaster Response Network of the American Psychological Association. He was active with the United Way of Wyoming Valley, serving two terms on its Board of Directors, as a member of the Labor Participation Committee, and participating in Christmas Stocking projects. 

Dave enjoyed beach vacations and playing in the pool with his grandchildren. Fishing, gardening, and woodworking were his hobbies. Hunting was not a hobby but a way of life.

Dave shared fifty-five years of marriage with his wife, Patricia K. Santucci Williams. Patricia preceded him in death on February 1, 2020, and his sister, Ellen Virgin, also preceded him in death.

His children, David and his wife Michele Williams of Dallas, Dr. Daniel and his wife Beth Williams of Harrisburg, Terri and her husband Joe Elms of Wilkes-Barre, and Michael Williams of Nanticoke; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other family and friends will miss him very much.

Celebration of Dave's Life begins Friday, June 28, 2024, with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Saturday, June 29, 2024, with gathering at 9 AM followed by a prayer service at 10 AM.

Donations to the United Way are preferred and will honor Dave's memory.
