Charlotte Anne Janc, 92, of Bear Creek Village, passed away in the presence of her loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Born October 13, 1933 in Chicago she was the daughter of Charles and Emily Fencl.

She was a graduate of Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, where she earned her Registered Nurse certification and began her career of caring for others. Over the years, she practiced nursing across every discipline, from obstetrics to geriatrics, and worked locally at the former Mercy Hospital and Davis Nursing Home.

Charlotte was an enthusiastic Notre Dame football fan who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and assembling handmade Christmas snowflake ornaments to share with everyone. She and her husband enjoyed extensive travel throughout Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. Charlotte was active in the Bear Creek Association, especially with the Summer Picnic and White Elephant Sale.

Charlotte was a member of the Parish of Saint Elizabeth in Bear Creek and a former member of the Parish of Saint Jude in Mountain Top.

Her husband of fifty-three years, Emil J. Janc, died on October 12, 2010, and her son, Michael F. Janc, died on March 28, 2014. Her beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Rocky, also recently preceded her in death.

Her daughter Therese and her husband Robert Smith of Mountain Top; son Joseph E. Janc, Esq. of Bear Creek Twp.; grandchildren Aubrey Smith and Ethan Smith; other family and friends will miss her very much.

Celebration of Charlotte’s Life takes place in the Church of Saint Elizabeth, 5700 Bear Creek Boulevard in Bear Creek on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM, and a Funeral Mass begins at 10 AM.

Donations to the Parish of Saint Elizabeth in Bear Creek or the SPCA of Luzerne County are preferred and will honor Charlotte’s memory.
