Carolyn J. Barnes, 91, of Kingston, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Born August 26, 1934, in Ridgway, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Catherine Diehl Case.

Carolyn was a proud cheerleader and graduate of Saint Basil’s High School in Dushore and Bloomsburg University.

Carolyn met the love of her life and husband of seventy-one years, Jim Barnes, in high school. Together they raised four children as Carolyn served as office manager and Jim served as plant manager of the family business, Hoffman-New Yorker, in Dushore.

Carolyn loved playing cards and hosting holiday gatherings.

Her family was most important to her; she was a wonderful wife and mother. Her husband, James H. Barnes, preceded her in death on December 7, 2024. Her son, William T. Barnes, preceded her in death on June 2, 2025.

Her children, J. Peter Barnes, Daniel C. and his wife, Sally Barnes, and Carol Lynn and her husband, Kaihan Tavakoli; grandchildren Brian, Danny, and Thomas Barnes, and Karen, Katie, and Kurt Tavakoli; and great-grandchildren Riley, Benjamin, Samuel, and Emmett will miss her very much.

Carolyn’s family will celebrate her life privately.
