Thomas V. Tinsley Jr.

Thomas V. Tinsley, Jr., 81, of Glen Summit, Mountain Top, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022.
Born October 16, 1940 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Thomas V. and Mollie Green Tinsley.
Tom attended West Side Central Catholic High School, Kingston and graduated from the University of Scranton in 1963, with a degree in Accounting.
Tom started his career in accounting with Peat Marwick and other smaller firms before starting his own accounting and tax practice, Tinsley Corporation, in Wilkes-Barre. He expanded his successful practice to serving local businesses with an office at the World Trade Center in New York City.
Tom married Katherine (Kitty) Swan in 1967 in New York City and lived there for a number of years. After the birth of their first daughter, Sara Elizabeth, they moved to Wycoff, New Jersey and then welcomed the arrival of their second daughter, Tracy Swan. In 1973, they settled in Glen Summit.
Tom enjoyed being outdoors hiking, riding his motorcycle in the mountains, and playing tennis. He and Kitty frequently went to New York City being season ticket holders to the Metropolitan Opera and a member of the New York Athletic Club. He also enjoyed golfing at Valley Country Club and the North Carolina Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
He was active in the community serving on the Board of Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services; the Board on North East Counseling; and the Glen Summit Company.
His wife, Kitty Swan Tinsley, and daughter, Sara Tinsley, preceded him in death.
His daughter Tracy and her husband, Timothy Inall of Ridgefield, Connecticut; grandchildren Caitlin, Phoebe, and Angus Inall; sisters Helen Tinsley of Glen Summit and Mackie Finnerty of Southampton, New York; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends will miss him very much.
Celebration of Tom's Life includes visitation from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM on Friday, October 7, 2022, in the Church of Saint Jude in Mountain Top.
