Robert T. Bambrick

Robert Thomas Bambrick, a lifelong resident of East End, Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Luke’s Villa after a brief illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on September 9, 1922, Robert was the son of the late Louis and Anna McLaughlin Bambrick. He graduated from Coughlin High School in 1940. Robert served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and San Francisco, California. Robert was employed at Percy Brown’s before and after his naval service and then worked for Maier’s Bakery for thirty-five years. Upon his retirement, he worked part-time at McLaughlin’s Funeral Service for twenty years.

Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Devoted to his deep faith and the Blessed Mother, Robert was a lifelong member of Holy Saviour Church - St. Andre Bessette Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years Mary Dougherty Bambrick. Surviving are his daughters, Cathy and her husband, John Kratz, Ashley; Molly and her husband, Dennis Bieryla, Plains Township; Eileen and her husband, Jim Brislin, Wilkes-Barre; and Betty and her husband, Joe Keating, Hanover Township; grandchildren, Maura Banford, John and Patrick Kratz, Ann O'Donnell, Dennis and Katie Bieryla, Jay Brislin, Brian and Bridget Keating; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mary Kate Banford, Emma and Molly Kratz, Juliet Kratz, Norah and Lucy O'Donnell, Joseph, Emily, and Daniel Bieryla, Drew and Addy Keating.

Celebration of Robert’s Life will begin Sunday with visitation from 3 to 5 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there on Monday with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

Robert’s family expresses their deep gratitude to Dr. James Bruno for his years of compassionate care as well as Sister Madonna Figura SS.C.M. of St. Andre Bessette Parish for her pastoral visits.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilkes-Barre Free Clinic, 35 South Franklin Street, or St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen, 33 East Northampton Street.
