Patricia Ann Warner Shamberger

April 9, 1937 — August 25, 2022

Patricia Ann Warner Shamberger, 85, of Drums, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on August 25, 2022.

Born April 9, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Warner.

Ann graduated Valedictorian of the Class of 1954 from St. Mary's High School in Wilkes-Barre. She earned a full scholarship to Misericordia University in Dallas and completed her double-major degrees in mathematics and chemistry there in 1958.

Ann served for thirty-two years as an EMT3 with the Vestal (NY) Volunteer Emergency Squad. She was appointed and served on the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct in New York City and Albany. Together with her beloved husband Jack, she ran Jack & Ann's The Loft, a small business and purveyor of crafts, fine woodworking, and antiques, operated out of their family farm. For decades, she volunteered as a poll official and voting observer in NY and PA for local and national elections.

Ann's passions included her community service working most Wednesday overnights for VVES, having her family around, and entertaining. She was an imaginative gourmet cook, homemaker, gardener, voracious reader, an avid player of pinochle and bridge, a lover of classical music and opera, and an attuned and informed listener of NPR. She seldom missed Jeopardy or Prairie Home Companion and loved seeing both shows recorded live in the studio audience. Many of her exquisite recipes will live on with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and exposed her grandchildren to splendid adventures as far away as Yosemite and Glacier National Parks, annual trips to Native American pow-wows, and many road trips to visit her large extended family and numerous friends.

Ann will be greatly missed by her husband of forty-one years, Jack Lyle Shamberger of Vestal, NY; children Beth Ceverha of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Claire Holcomb of McCall, ID, and Peter Larkin of Berlin, CT; grandchildren Tyler, Lucas, Kyle, Madeline, Quinn and Kendall; and her beloved siblings, brothers Edward (Marilyn) Warner of Drums, Thomas Warner of Drums, Paul (Rose) Warner of Moscow, and sisters Susan Paoletti of Mountain Top, Catherine (William) Lenahan of Monroe Township, NJ and her life long sister Linda Mitchell of Kingston.

Celebration of Ann's Life will be in the Church of Saint Jude in Mountain Top on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Visitation begins at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM.

Ann's entire family wholeheartedly thanks the compassionate, professional staff and caregivers at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital and Allied Meade Hospice.

A tax-deductible memorial donation to Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad, ℅ VVES, 324 Myrtle Street, Vestal, NY 13850 will honor Ann's memory.
