Nicholas Joseph Kratz

February 24, 1948 — January 24, 2024

Nicholas Joseph Kratz, a lifelong resident of Sugar Notch, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born February 24, 1948 he was a son of the late Nicholas J. and Mary Maier Kratz. His beloved wife, Juliann Jackloski Kratz, preceded him in death on April 3, 2022.

Nick was a 1965 graduate of Saint Nicholas High School in Wilkes-Barre. He faithfully served in the Army Reserve for six years. Nick was a sales representative and paint expert for many years at Matthew Paint Store, Duron, and Sherwin Williams before retiring at seventy.

Nick was a parishioner of Saint Charles in Sugar Notch most of his life until its closing and was presently a member of the Parish of Saint Leo the Great in Ashley.

Above all, Nick will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who always placed the needs of others before himself. He lovingly cared for his wife for several years during her illness and faithfully tended to the needs of his parents when they were living.

His son Nicholas Kratz of West Wyoming; daughter Joann Kratz of Sugar Notch; granddaughter Abbey Kratz; sister Mary Kratz Vitale and her husband Stan of Glassboro, NJ; brother John Kratz and his wife Cathy of Ashley; nieces, nephews, other family and friends will miss him very much.

Celebration of Nick's Life takes place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, with visitation beginning at 9 AM and a service at 10 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Donations to the Parish of Saint Leo the Great or the Ashley Food Pantry are preferred and will honor Nick's memory.
