Nancy T. McCormick

November 20, 1929 - March 21, 2017

Nancy T. McCormick, 87, formerly of Kingston died Tuesday at Saint Luke's Villa. Born November 20, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Richard and Honora Haley Horn. Nancy was an LPN at Retreat State Hospital for many years before retiring in 1982. She later worked in the security department of Boscov’s in Wilkes-Barre. Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading mysteries, playing cards and traveling. Most important to her was spending time with family in their frequent get-togethers. Her son, Albert M. McCormick, died April 24, 2010. Sisters, Mary McGinty and Rita Wambold; a brother, Richard Horn and longtime companion, Bernie Pohutsky also preceded her in death. Nancy is survived by her daughter in law, Linda McCormick, Forty Fort; her grandchildren Timothy McCormick and his wife Becky, Milton, MA and Kelly McCormick and her husband Samuel Horowitz, Mountain Lakes, NJ; and her sister, Catherine Collacott. Nancy's great grandchildren, Katie and Mikey McCormick and Becka and Addie Horowitz, brought sunshine to her life.  The special bond that she shared with her nieces Anne, Claire, Krissy, Nora, Jeannie, Molli, Sharon, Katie and MaryAnn, and nephews, Billy and Jay and their families will be cherished forever.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May the road rise to meet you Nancy. Nancy’s entire family is grateful for the loving, compassionate care that the staff of Saint Luke’s Villa shared with her. Celebration of Nancy’s Life will begin Friday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue Saturday at 9 AM in the Chapel at Saint Luke's Villa, 80 East Northampton Street in Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the chapel. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery. Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Saint Luke’s Villa Skilled Nursing Activity Fund.
