Michael T. Armstrong

March 7, 1932 — September 16, 2009

Michael Thomas Armstrong, 77, of Exeter and formerly of Wilkes-Barre passed peacefully Wednesday at Hospice Community Care.

Mike was the son of the late Mary Maher Armstrong and James Armstrong.

He graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1951 and attended Kings College.

An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a Military Policeman.

Mike was employed as a sales representative for Planters Peanuts in Northern New Jersey. After returning to Pennsylvania, he and his wife owned and operated "The Glen Hideaway" in Wilkes-Barre. Mike was then employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a custodian at Kistler Elementary for 22 years, retiring in June 2000.

He and his wife, the former Theresa (Teri) Ulgherait, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 28, 2009. Mike was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish and the Swoyersville American Legion, Post 644. He was an avid Notre Dame Fan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John and a niece, Nancy Armstrong Hess.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Timothy of Linden, Virginia daughter, Teri Pace and her husband Dan of Dallas,
grandson Anthony Pace; granddaughter Daniella Pace;
sister-in-law, Anne Armstrong of Dover, New Jersey;
several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Hospice Community Care, 601 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, 18704.
