Lena Mossuto Ancavage

August 26, 1915 - March 28, 2009

Lena Mossuto Ancavage, 93, formerly of Hill Street in Wilkes-Barre and New York City passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28. She was the widow of Second Lieutenant Joseph S. Ancavage, who was killed in action in Southern France during World War II. Born August 26, 1915 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette Calvito Mossuto. She was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Class of 1933. Lena worked for many years in the New York offices of ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company). She was executive assistant to the corporate vice-president, president and CEO of the company until her retirement in 1982. Following retirement, Lena relocated to Manchester, Connecticut to live with her daughter and her family. Surviving are: daughter, Joyce Yarnot and her husband Michael of Manchester, Connecticut, granddaughter Melissa Yarnot of Manchester, Connecticut, grandson, Michael J. Yarnot and his wife Colleen, and two great-granddaughters, Julia and Meghan of Hartford, Connecticut, several nieces and nephews including, Edith Dunbar Gavin and her husband Patrick of Cranford, New Jersey and Andrew Parnell and his wife Judy of Hunlock Creek In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by sisters, Edith Dunbar, Florence Parnell and Lucy Wilson and brothers, Samuel and Louis Mossuto. Funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service 142 S. Washington St. Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township. Calling hours are on Wednesday, April 1 from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 134 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701
