June Sanborn

June Ella Sanborn, 83, of Mount Pocono was surrounded by family at Keystone Garden Estates when she was called back on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and a broken hip.
Born November 29, 1927 in Roxbury, Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Harold B. and Etta Jane Barnes Parker.
Commonly known as June, Junie and June Bug, she was more intimately known as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, artist, gardener, singer and more. Her needs in life were simple: love, happiness, laughter, friendship, music and family. Her gifts were many: love for family, kindness, forgiveness, sacrifice, creativity and old fashioned Yankee ingenuity. June always gave generously and freely of her many talents.
June was one of the world’s happiest people when she was with her children and grandchildren. Her passion for singing and working in her numerous flower gardens was boundless. June’s church life at the Mt. Pocono United Methodist Church was important to her for many years. She gave voice to numerous church choirs and often traveled miles to sing with choral groups at rest homes to the delight of the residents. She was singing and dancing still within days of her passing.
Her gentleness and light-hearted, but feisty free spirit will be missed sadly by her husband, Glen; sons, Christopher and his wife Allison, Anthony, David and his wife Killu, Tim and his wife Kay, and Paul and his wife Bernadette; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Dean
A memorial service will be held March 19, 2011 at the Mt. Pocono United Methodist Church, Mt. Pocono, PA. Expressions of remembrance and a celebration of her life will take place in Covenant Hall following a service in the Sanctuary at 2 p.m. All friends are welcome to join the Reverend David Goss and the Sanborn family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in June’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011, or online at www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp
