John B. Smith, 68, of Swoyersville died Friday.
Born March 28, 1946 in Newark, New Jersey he was a son of the late Henry and May Kuryak Smith.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam Era he honorably served our country from 1964 to 1966.
John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
An infant daughter, Theresa preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Theresa McTague; children, John D. Smith of Swoyersville, Donald and his wife Patti Smith of Tunkhannock, Christine and her husband Tom Patton of Swoyersville and Anthony Smith of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Jr., Samantha, Bobby and Evan Smith and Sean, Julie and Megan Patton; brothers, Lawrence of California and Charles of Massachusetts; sisters, Carol Ann Abernathy and Paula Marino of New Jersey; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of John’s Life will be held Monday from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment with military honors will be in Saint Ignatius Cemetery.
