Jean Wasnick

December 1, 1924 — January 24, 2017

Jean Catherine Wasnick, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

Jean was born on December 1, 1924 to the late Daniel and Mildred Shovlin and was a long time resident of Wilkes-Barre. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family dearly. Her loving husband, John Wasnick; and sister, Mildred Shovlin preceded her in death.

Jean was a warm-hearted individual who always saw the best in others. She provided encouragement, to those she knew, when life’s journey became difficult or challenging. Commitment and steadfast resolve were fundamental to her way of life and considerable wisdom was handed down to her children and grandchildren. We are forever grateful for the unconditional love and support she bestowed upon us.

Jean is survived by her sons Dr. John (Wendy) Wasnick and James (Heather) Wasnick; grandchildren: Ashley, Hamilton and Erick. Cousins and extended family members.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 28th at 1 PM in the Chapel at Little Flower Manor, 200 South Mead Street, Wilkes-Barre with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Jean’s family extends their sincerest appreciation to the supportive staff at Little Flower Manor for their devotion, care and understanding. Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Little Flower Manor.
