Helen Andes Conologue CRNA

Helen Andes Conologue, CRNA, 86, a long time resident of Forty Fort died peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Friday.

Born August 25, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Mary McGlynn Andes.

Helen was a 1940 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School. Following brief employment at the Kirby Health Center, she continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

As a Registered Nurse, Helen worked at North Country Community Hospital in Glen Cove, New York where she met the love of her life, Edward. She went on to Pittsburgh, studying to become a nurse anesthetist at Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing, and returned to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston as one of the first Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in the area. She retired in 1987.

Helen was a member of the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She volunteered her time to Reach for Recovery program of the American Cancer Society.

Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling to Hawaii and Disney World. But her true passion was spending time with her family and vacationing in Cape May Point, a tradition she instilled in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her brother, H. Gene Andes preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Edward A. Conologue, children, Robert J. and his wife Diane Conologue of Darien, Connecticut, Edward A. Conologue of Forty Fort and Joan C. and her husband William Abrams of Dallas, and former daughter-in-law, Julie and her husband George Conklin. Grandchildren, Lisa Conologue Cruikshank and her husband Scott, Alison Conologue and Brian Conologue, Matthew Conologue and his wife Theresa, Catherine Polachek, Elizabeth Finarelli and her husband Michael, James Abrams and Sarah Abrams. Great-grandchildren, Alexander Cruikshank, Eric and Erin Conologue, Madison Polachek and Michael William Finarelli.

Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held Tuesday at 10:15 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:45 AM in Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM
