Donald Francis Clinton of Chestnut Street in Sugar Notch died Thursday, October 1st.

Born 26 October 1917 in Sugar Notch he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Caffrey Clinton. Following the death of his mother during the 1918 flu epidemic, Don was raised by his father and, from the age of six, his second mother, Mary Barrett Clinton.

An Army veteran of World War II, Don served in the Pacific Theater when he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. He was honorably discharged in November 1948 following a reenlistment and more than six and one-half years of service.

In 1986, Don retired after a successful career as a manager for Fowler, Dick and Walker, The Boston Store.

Mr. Clinton was a member of Holy Family Parish and Sugar Notch American Legion Post 796.

Don was devoted to his family, and he will always be remembered for his razor wit, his intelligence and work ethic, his willingness to sacrifice for anyone, and his patient acceptance of his final years of physical decline. Notre Dame will have one fewer avid fan.
