Daniel T. Conrad

April 4, 1957 — February 13, 2015

Daniel T. Conrad, 57, of Wilkes-Barre was in the presence of his loving family in Orlando, Florida when he was called to heaven on February 13, 2015.

Born April 4, 1957, he was the son of Mary Bloss Conrad of Wilkes-Barre and the late Philip J. Conrad.

Dan graduated from E.L. Meyers High School in 1975 and Wilkes University in 1979.

A dedicated, loving husband and father, Dan’s family was the center of his world. He married Kathy Lenkowski in 1979 and together they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in August. Dan was an exceptional father to his four children, Rebecca, Lindsey, Erin, and Daniel whom he loved and supported through any and every endeavor.

Ardent in faith, Dan was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ in Wilkes-Barre. A respected elder, he served the church as the Chairman of the Board for twenty years. He was deeply ingrained in the church, and worked tirelessly to support the congregation.

Dan’s professional career spanned thirty-five years. A respected technology executive in the education space, he was admired by his colleagues for his intelligence, honesty, and laid-back temperament. His professional accolades and achievements are many; he was most recently employed as the Vice President of Operations, EMS Division at Hobsons, and led their partnership with Mid-America Christian University.

Generous with his time and energy, Dan was the co-founder of the original Northeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Dan loved sports. He believed team sports developed true character, and loved to travel to support his daughters Lindsey and Erin during their collegiate field hockey careers. He was a prominent fixture at Syracuse University and University of Louisville field hockey tailgates. An accomplished athlete in his own right, he was a member of the 1974 E.L. Meyers Championship football team, and was training to run his sixth Disney Marathon at the time of his passing. He was also an avid golfer.

Dan lived his life to be happy. He loved traveling with his family, with Disney World being his favorite place on earth. He was truly happiest at home during the holidays, where each year he would tag, transport and assemble a twenty-five-foot tall Christmas tree in his living room, a tradition that undoubtedly will be carried on by his son, Daniel.

Dan was immensely patient and wise, passing along many lessons to his family and friends. He believed: If you do the right thing, for the right reason, you will get the right outcome.

He will be missed each day by his devoted wife of thirty-five years, Kathy; his loving children, daughters, Rebecca, Lindsey, and Erin, and his only son, Daniel; his mother, Mary; his brothers, Phil and his wife Virginia, and Terry and his wife Doreen; his sister, Sandy and her husband Mike; his numerous nieces and nephews; his extended family, Josh and Derek; his church family and countless loyal friends and colleagues.

Celebration of Dan’s Life will begin Friday, February 27th with visitation from 4-7pm at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28th at 1pm at the First Church of Christ on Horton Street at Carey Avenue in Wilkes-Barre.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the First Church of Christ in Wilkes-Barre.
