Carl Duane Jones, 84, of Dagobert Street, Wilkes-Barre died Wednesday at Holy Spirit Hospital in Carlisle.

Born 13 January 1925 in Hughestown he was a son of the late James and Elsie Miller Jones.

Carl attended Pittston Township High School.

An Army veteran of World War II, Carl served with an aircraft artillery battalion in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater for more than two and one-half years.

At the time of his retirement Carl was a supervisor and had been employed by Faith Shoe Company for more than thirty years.

Carl was a member of Parish of Saint Aloysius and its Holy Name Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Deborah Hospital Foundation.

A keen fisherman with a penchant for country music, Carl enjoyed many RV trips around the country with his family and grandchildren. He was known to be a kind, caring and loving gentleman.

His wife, Marian Tucker Jones, died in 2000. Brothers, James and Roy Jones and a sister, Gladys Blazick also preceded him in death.

Surviving are daughters: Jennifer and her husband Jack Ferry of Marysville and Kathleen Jones of Wilkes-Barre
grandchildren, Robert Ferry and his wife Elizabeth Monoian, Michael Ferry and his wife Susan Boucher, Matthew Ferry and Sarah Ferry
great-grandchildren, Eleanor and John Ferry
sister: Leona Thoma of Massachusetts
many nieces and nephews
sister-in-law, Pearl Tucker; special friends, Edith Krauss and Oma Weidner; and his cats, Fall and Rascal

Funeral Mass for Carl and Marian will be celebrated Saturday at 09:30 AM in Church of Saint Aloysius, Barney and Division Streets in Wilkes-Barre.
