Anne Tucker
October 15, 1927 — March 18, 2013
Anne M. Tucker, 85, of B’nai Brith Apartments and a former longtime resident of Custer Street and the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday at the home of her son Joseph J. Tucker and daughter-in-law Leila M. Tucker in Nuangola.
Born October 15, 1927 in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township she was a daughter of the late James and Ann Kane.
Ann worked for Zayre's, Zollinger's and Boscov's department stores before retiring.
Finding great comfort in her strong faith, Ann was a member of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and a daily communicant at the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
She loved family get-togethers especially around the holidays. She loved her friends and enjoyed going out to dinner, playing bingo, poker and Pokeno with her friends at B’nai Brith.
She will be sadly missed by anyone who knew her.
Her husband, Charles Tucker died October 12, 1985. A sister, Betty Rounds and brother, James Kane also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Diane M. Tucker of Laflin, Charles J. Tucker and wife Carol Sue of Manheim, Carol Tucker Gesek and husband Joe of Florida, James J. Tucker and Cathy Lanyon of Trucksville, John B. Tucker and wife Janice of Binghamton, New York, and Joseph J. Tucker and wife Leila of Nuangola; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Kane Horton of Lititz and other family and friends.
Anne’s entire family is grateful to the staff of Hospice Community Care, especially Connie, Vickie, and Holly, for their care and compassion during her last days.
Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held Thursday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
