Gerald C. Rebo

Gerald C. Rebo of Drums died Sunday July 5th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born June 18, 1946 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late John and Emily Lutinski Rebo.
A graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre, he earned his associates degree from Lackawanna Junior College.
After graduation from G.A.R., Gerald served in the U.S. Army, with deployment to Germany. After completion of his military duty he returned to Wilkes-Barre and had been employed as a cutter for Tina Dress Company for three years. Gerald then became a member of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department where he was a member of the original S.W.A.T. Team. Since his retirement from the police force in 2000 he has been employed by Wilkes University and until recently served as Captain of Public Safety at the school.
Prior to his military duty Gerald had been a well-known local athlete who had been recruited by the New York Mets, Yankee’s and Philadelphia Phillies baseball teams.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and had served as its Secretary.
He was predeceased by brothers Ron and Jack, and a sister, Flo.
Gerald will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Sandra Davis; son, Gerald J Rebo and his wife Kristin, Clemmons, NC; daughters Dawn and her husband Peter Steblinski, Wilkes-Barre, Sherri and husband Michael Yelen, Kingston, Danay and husband Patrick Roman, Bridgewater NJ; grandchildren Ashlilyn and Matthew Steblinski; Olivia, Jacob, Charlotte and Valerie Yelen; Irelyn, Dominic, Gabriella and Patrick Roman and Gerald’s great grandchild Hunter Rose; brother, Wayne Rebo and a sister Diane Kirkutis both of Wilkes-Barre; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Gerald’s Life will begin Friday with visitation from 2 to 5 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Saturday with gathering at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the SPCA, East Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
